Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist as well as a music producer. She received the British House of Commons' Shield, which is the youngest and the first female to receive it. Apart from nine Grammy nominations and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the very first Indian-origin musician to present at and perform during the ceremony live. Anoushka is a new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a student and sister of Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. The first few years of her life were spent between London in London and New Delhi. At the age of 13, she gave her first show at New Delhi. When she moved to Encinitas the state of California, in 1999 she earned an honorary high school degree. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful music and acting career, even though she's young. She regularly accompanies her father during performances, something she has been doing for quite a few years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. She has performed at most famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka's career does not only comprise musical performances. Bapi The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. She also acted on the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Her career continues to grow and she is expected to accomplish many amazing things in the future. Anoushka Shakar, born in England was a major part of her life between London Delhi. When she moved to California she completed her high school. At the age of 9, she started studying music alongside her father. The first time she performed on the sitar came in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Alongside her father, he toured the world Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of experiences appearing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also performing together with George Harrison. She was the youngest woman to win the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament in recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability within the Asian Arts.
